1972 CT90 with CT110 running gear and 12volt. Long range tank, leather bags on custom rack, rebuilt forks and engine, new chain & sprockets.

$1300 Aus (about £750) private sale (via Postie Bikes Australia FB page). Ready for rego but is eligible for a Club permit which would mean joining an approved club but then could be used without registration. Just wading through the legislation for this as registration, which includes basic insurance is quite costly. My son paid about £300 on his Gladys.

Just counting all my pennies. Also weighing all of the riding kit I want to take with me next week (including all of my son's which is taking up wardrobe room).

Makes sense to me as the minimum to hire a bike is $100+ a day and I will be in Aus for 9 weeks this time. This way I get to keep it there and use when I visit. If not this one then there are a few about at this money. The more I look at it though............

Must order some more Club stickers!!

Yes, Tim has only just transferred his licence to a Victorian one and he has had his car for over a year. His bike licence is a provisional and entitles him to ride his 650 (limited to 60bhpish). He has to wear a reflective vest with L on it and is not allowed to filter (good idea I suppose).

POSTIE.JPG
So, 2 weeks on, a day in the air and a car journey to Rye, not the one in Sussex (been there a couple of times this year).

Had a quick test ride up and down a convenient steep hill and it seems exactly what I want. 4 speed box changes nicely even though I was wearing sandals (and socks, obviously - we have to keep our standards up). Deposit paid and now waiting for Bank to transfer the balance. Then Tim will be borrowing a Falcon Station Wagon and we will fetch it. We have somewhere to get the RWC (MOT) then the Registration and Stamp Duty of all things!

Ben is a Postie expert and has covered massive miles on them (not this one) including Cape York which is 2,200 miles. He is seen above talking to Tim about Lifan engines, a subject on which he is an expert.

Oh, and I have been instructed on fuel tank filling and use ie. not having both taps open at the same time and causing an overflow (sure it will happen sometime).

What oil?...................nah!

Out in the back of beyond last week - bought a sheepskin. Shortish haired one - commonly used as a pet rug apparently.

Brought it back, one of the dogs is terrified of it, runs a mile!

Cut it in half and trying it as a seat cover for the Postie, the other half coming home for the Kayak. :D

Can you get the Postie back as hand luggage? It's a lovely bike.
