I think the Kitten finished production in 1982and the quadracycle category wasn’t introduced until 86.....its a Euro category we never had before.

Hi and welcome, glad to know you've found a decent early 90, they are certainly few and far between. Reliants, oh yes, had many fun times in a Regal van over the years, used to be great for the winter, shove half a dozen of your mates in the back and off to the pub, so nobody ended up getting caught/killed drink driving. Surprisingly quick as well, one night got pulled for speeding, 72 in a 40, the copper looked inside and realised there were loads of people in it, so made them all get out so he could count them, 8 including me, 6 crammed in the back. Thought he was going to throw the book at me, but said "If I reported that one of these (pointing at the van) was travelling that fast, with that many people in it, I'd get laughed off the force!" So he made 4 start walking, and told me never to overload or drive it that fast again! Nice 500 four as well, are you a member of the Honda SOHC U.K. forum? Well worth joining if you're not, they're all as crazy as the guys and girls on here!

Hi John, thought I recognised that kitten, met you a few times at surrey Reliant Club, plus you've got the same user name as you had on the old reliant world forum, I'm Terry, I restored and owned the blue Rebel APV 415L, the best Rebel ever lol, think it made the cover of the Kitten mag? How are you and how's the Reliant Seen nowadays?

Thanks Terry

onnitino3,

Hi Terry, long time no see! Glad to know all is well with you. As you might see, I've moved further north, nearly a year ago now, but still managed to get down to the Surrey branch a few times during the past year but its now 185 miles each way........ Then again it was over 80 each way from my last place in Bedfordshire! I also visit the Nottingham branch occasionally, they are a great bunch and meet in Retford, only 22 miles from me. Plan is to stay a Surrey branch member though......

hairygit,

Yes I am a member of the Honda s.o.h.c. UK forum..... along with a few others, That, World of Reliant and Practically Classics being the only ones I'm active on, along with numerous Facebook groups. Been on there a few years now, same username on all the forums, but don't post that often as anything I might add is generally already added!

andyk1k,

Yes a lot of people don't realise how quick the three-wheelers can be, especially the yellow top ht-e Rialto versions which can easily top a ton. Not with me driving though....

On other previous posts,

It has never been legal to drive a Kitten on a category A "bike" licence, always been a category B or B1. As far as I'm aware the Kittens are the only sub-550kg cars that can be driven on a B1 as the rules clearly state 400kg or 550kg if constructed for the carriage of goods and Kittens, all having a folding back seat, clearly are. That said those who do use a B1 often have difficulty with getting insurance at sensible money, despite what the law says.

John
