Think I'm right in saying the OE alternator is 138 watts.
12v X 11.5amps =138 watts
12v X 11.5amps =138 watts

It will fit into a std engine
Smaller and lighter flywheel, little bit thicker than normal but fits under the generator cover
Big chunky reg/rec and big chunky CDI but they all fit just fine in my 6v C90 frame

Not heated grips but heat..with the dragon coming up and a long ride for me I did like the look of the heated vest but at £120 for use once a year it is a bit much.So I have a cunning plan poundland sell pads that heat up for back pain which stick to your clothes and last about 8 hours.I am testing one now and it is quite warm 2 packs in each box for you guessed it £1 should work out a bit cheaper. And of course they keep warm off the bike and even in bed though the instructions say do not wear them in bed ,have these people ever been camping in minus 6 degrees C .
The pad is stuck to a T shirt on the outside a tighter fitting one or base layer would help transfer the heat and perhaps a mylar aka space blanket cover over it may improve things more ,but it is warm.

It's officially 150 W @ 13.2V. Nobody has ever found all the watts and only half of them are readily available, since the negative halfwave is only used for lighting.stevew wrote:Think I'm right in saying the OE alternator is 138 watts.

In order not to drain your battery, you can use a battery guard designed for for coolers

Been running the Daytona grips on the Wave for a while now. No probs and the alternator seems up to it. Mind you they are pretty warm and have only needed to use setting 1 for 90% of the time with nothing more than setting 2 in the really cold. Grips have 5 settings.
The other nice thing is they insist that you DO NOT wire to the battery but pick up from a switched live. Works as well !!!!

Nope the instructions specifically say wire direct to a switched live from the Ign switch NOT to the battery !Diesel Dave wrote: 150 watts! I hope you used a relay.......
Thinking back i had the same on my CB500 and they always worked fine when wired as per instructions.
Something to do with "pulsed" current some one once told me.

But that's 11.5 amps through the switched live circuit.....
The only reason that they say. It directly to the battery is so you don't leave them switched on when the motor isn't running.
Pulsed current indeed.....
Never mind, I know you don't care........

The heat pads worked very well ,if only the bike got to the dragon ignition coil broke down so I came home .
The pads are Masterplast heat pads no link just look in poundland near the plasters. The pads did work very well and stayed warm for over 8 hours plus they have a shelf life of over 2 years.
As for the ignition coil £14.95 and it is fixed, this is for the GS500,the bike pulls a lot better than before as well .
