Re: My New? ST70
While waiting for my 1972 ST70 to arrive later today some thoughts are present regarding the 6v lighting which seem to be next stage up from Carbide.... with the limited power output available my thoughts are turning to modifying the lighting to LED or better still CREE, any information on thee thought would be appreciated, I know that the gen output is AC and would need to be changed to DC through a rectifier - but what rectifier?

Re: My New? ST70
Year should read 1979 NOT 1972 utter confusion? Maybe but according to log book which I’m having EXTREME DIFFICULTY with registering ownership on-line.... it’s even different to what it was 4 weeks ago.
Help someone please.

Re: My New? ST70
Is the log book for that bike ,Frame numbers match , and was 1979 the year it was imported ?
early frame number coulb be ST70-12 - - - and 1979 would be nearer ST70-6 --

Re: My New? ST70
Wot ho Jim. Trust all is well. There seem to be a few glitches in the DVLA computer at the moment, I had similar problem doing SORN a few weeks back, give them a bell ..... You can apply for a SORN by calling the DVLA at 0300 123 4321. This is what I did, they will take you through all you need to do to get a SORN & maybe sort your V5 problem at the same time.

Wighteg, 1979 is confirmed as Mfg date & numbers match those in log book.
Bern, Hi again..., it’s been a while since we met at Muppets do nr Fakenham,
The Helix is now running better than I am after it’s engine hangar replacement.
At moment I’m bugged with bladder cancer and have so many hospital visit I’m wondering which way is UP!
I’ve now sorted the DVLA on-line prob out and completed the job.....just been looking through all paperwork on my ST70 and sure enough it has had a complete and very expensive re-build recently, it’s a super job and I was so lucky to find this, all I need now to complete is a few Decals to polish off the job.
Next job will be to insure it then tax it (free) but getting the SORN cost me £37! - I thought it was free?
It’s good to be communicating again.

Re: My New? ST70
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Nice looking ST70. Is the speedo in KPH or MPH? Bad to work out in the small photo. If KPH bike may be a euro model, but the indercator's also look like JDM ones. A 79 model should have the low german helmet type mudguards,as we did not get the high type over here.
This is my stock 1980 ST70 but with a CT70 engine guard on it.
