Honda Sky SGX50 anyone got / had one?

Post by crammy69 » Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:09 pm

Just came across one of these on Ebay and it strikes me as a good looking little runabout with the round headlight etc. Not sure on performance given they are only 50cc but Id guess 30-35 gotta be acheivable if de-restricted (not sure if they are or not). Anyone had one?

I used to see so many of these when i was growing up. i alwasy wanted to ride one. They are so rare in england.
They are really really light. Its's all plastic really. The mudguard is seethrough look.

I remember it was the only ped i saw with a speedo that only went up to 60km/h, it's a nice speedo though.

You would need a top box really, there is no underseat storage just enough for documents.
You can get a screen too for these scooters.

I remember seeing people 2 up on these things haha

Yeah I just read they couldnt crack 40mph even when de-restricted!, mind you I rode into work yesterday on the C70 and I think I only hit 40 very briefly a few times in the whole journey even though the roads were relatively clear for rush hour. I think i'd like one of these if a decent one comes up at a fair price :D

It's funny, I was searching for info on them and came upon a polini kit to make it into a 70cc , which surprised me as I wouldn't have thought it common enough to have much of a after market.

Sounds a worthy addition to the garage if I can find a likely one :D

By the way, thanks again for twiddling my carb wotsit, it rides so much better now, hardly any stalling at all now (just when im particularly clumsy/early with the downchanges at junctions) and confidence inspring enough for me to ridse it to work and back Monday! so refreshing to not be on the train :D
