bought this years ago, needed totally rebuilding nut and bolt job, cubs have took over been seat there for years. pixs show the hard work...

Nearly brought a tear to my eye......i love the old TY,s and DT,s and don,t even get me started on Bultacos,Montessas and Ossas.Fantastic project.

It looks like you are making a good bike out of the 175 Steve,i hope you can find and fit an original front mudguard for it,the one on the "before" pic would be u s in a trial,the mud would pile up on the cylinder and cause it to overheat and eventually the spark plug would go to earth.I am probably teaching my grannie to such eggs.
I dont know why people cut mudguards down,i usually fit a rubber mudflap to add to efficency of the guard.
The ty 175 was the best schoolboy and small adult bike in its day,in many ways they handled better than the 250,also the 175 was 6 speed and the 250(twin shock)was 5.

hi i do have a front mudguard a good used one, there are like rocking horse shit, but the rear is easy to find, ive come across the front mudguard been cut down a few time, normal because the frame is bent, other wise it would fowl the exhaust
