I know they are not the best, but for some reason my wife quite likes the look of one
Has anyone had any experience of them? reliability, maintenance, top speed etc?
Many thanks

Re: Honda SGX 50
I had a pop on one today... 30mph was pretty much it. Are these easily de-restricted or is it a bit of a complicated process Not looking to boy-racer it up, but 40 mph would be a safe speed for the roads we use...
Cheers

Re: Honda SGX 50
i know from owning a few honda peds over the years that a lot of it is built in restriction, i.e. the engines themselves are the limit, not the usual washer in the exhaust, or doh-dahs in the carb. I've had city express, honda express, camino etc the camino was tuneable relatively easily, city express was useless, to get any speed you needed to bloody just about replace vast chunks of the engine, even then just under 40 was it. from the looks that SGX is very similar.. not that I've ever had one. simple things to try if there available are go faster variators in the final drive, see if theres a big bore 70cc kit on one of the continental ped go faster sites (couple in holland if i remember) and a better exhaust/carb but better to just get her onto a C50, it looks better and its faster! if she can't do gears get a C50LAx the dutch sites and places like moped army site will give you info on them, and if or what can be done to give a bit more poke.

I think you can 'up' the variator with a few choice parts for cheap, and probably wouldn't do it any harm sticking a performance pipe on.....must admit, i find them quite a nice looking little ped...
