Definitely the KTM, a friend of mine had one of the large Duke models a couple or 3 years ago, and it was built like a proper tonka toy (older 40+ newsgroup members will know what i mean by this)......For me, BMW's no matter how they've been in recent years have never lost their 'pipe and slippers old geezer' image in my opinion from their years of making mostly endless tourers that all looked the same....

Re: Opinions.... BMW GS Vs KTM 990 Adventure?
I have the GS and my mate has the KTM. Both are good bikes but I'm glad I have my GS over the KTM. The KTM feels way faster, having a more revvy sporty engine, but on the road, especially bumpy roads the GS feels much more planted and brakes alot better. The GS seems to cope with luggage and pillions better and the KTM is reported to be a better off road bike. But both these bikes are heavy and expensive which would put me off doing any real off roading, better sticking to a 125-600cc dirt bike for that. Or a cub. Another plus for the GS is the it get nearly 15 more mpg than the KTM. The BMW's are getting less of the pipe and slippers these days but its still there. And alot of twats seem to ride BMs too. My mate has had no reliability issues with his KTM which he has done around 9000 miles on, but it is quite heavy on service parts. in 37k my GS has had a cluch (I put this down to it being an ex press bike) and a fuel pump. I reckon you need to ride each bike for a good few hours before you decide which one is for you so get down the local dealers and kick some tyres!
