Whilst killing time for car popped into Colchester Kwak for a breakfast :shock: heart attack on a plate consumed quick browse round.

Keeway have expanded their range with 2 more 125cc models. A Mutt style scrambler and something called a Fact X twist & go

At £1999 + OTR it's a youngsters dream machine

It's small & lightweight has BMW style twin headlamp with metal bodywork guards fitted as standard. Only drawbacks I noticed was small floorboards, limited wiggle room on seat & the Biggie for me it appears you have to remove the heat shield to check the dipstick :roll:

As a town runabout I'd give it serious consideration for the coin

Nice, I will look out for those :)

It does look like the Chinese market for 125s is really expanding, I saw a few nice offerings in the ‘adventure’ styled class such as the MGB tax adventure for £2499

Twice I've been offered a Keeway Superlight (not the same one) at a bargain price.

They're solid little bikes, and the Superlight has been around for ages in various guises (carb'd, F.I, Euro 5 etc.)

Only the lack of a proper local dealer really stopped me.

Well, that and the fact that I don't actually need one. :lol:

great looking machines, but,, and I know I'm wrong but still don't know if I could love Chinesium. I love Honda's, also have a R/E but still some horror stories on newish Chinese bikes make me feel I couldn't bond, even though some horror stories on Honda's. Suppose I'm getting old and set in my ways. :?

I know what you mean as I wandered around yesterday I looked at all the expensive metal & middle age men 'draping' themselves over the latest Aprilia crotch rocket thinking you've all driven here & one of these wouldn't have managed last month's flooded roads.

Then I looked at the 17K upward 'adventure' bikes that I could no longer lift with their TFT condensation collection displays & came back to the thought I'd abandon a 2K bike in a hedgerow if it broke down in the middle of nowhere but buggered if I would a bike costing more than my annual income

And It's just struck me why I like the Keeway, it's the Piaggio Typhoon reincarnated which I always held a soft spot for with the loud graphics & chunky tyres

It’s not a black and white situation. However, what remains evident is that the longevity of anything mainstream depends less on maintenance than anything non mainstream.

In other words, if you’re prepared to undertake preventive maintenance on a Chinese bike, you’ll likely have a better experience than someone that doesn’t. If you apply the same principles to a Honda, you might not have such a different experience.

My Son is 33 and has been riding for 16 years now. He feels more positive than a lot of his peers about Chinese bikes because he put 10,000 miles in 10 months on his first bike, a 2006 Jinlun 125.

I don't think I would spend a lot on one. A friend had trouble riding his Street Triple, he's 80 now and only usually rides with our wrinkly group. We're led by an 88 year old on a PCX, we all advised him to look at an SH or Forza 125. However he ended up with a new Zontes ZT310-M mainly because he got a better offer on PX than our Honda dealer. Nice looking bike and loaded with electronics which IMHO may not be ideal, the electric seat lock is already playing up after 60 miles. He likes it though, copes with it OK and apparently has stopped pulling the brake lever when forgetting he doesn't have a clutch.
I took a bit longer, seem to have got over that but still hunt for a brake pedal sometimes. :lol:
