The Royal Enfield 350 (new type) topic

I read a number of posts on here, mentioning the new RE 350 in its various guises. Hopefully this might help a few with an owners perspective.I’ve had my 350 classic in green since June last year and so far have done 4500 miles ish on it, including a John O Groats to Lands end run, which included riding it from south Devon to John O Groats for the start. I think I’ve got to know it now.
The first thing that struck me about the bike is how well finished it is. This still holds true despite it being used in all weathers and on salty roads. I do clean it regularly, and it’s holding up very well.
The bike just feels comfortable and so easy to ride. The ergonomics are spot on for me at 6’1”, and from friends who have ridden it and gone on to buy one of the versions of the 350 (meteor, classic or hunter) it fits a wide range of people.
The motor is a peach, so smooth yet with real character. Torquey low down, it is at its best on A and B roads and lanes, although it can motor along at 70 on the motorway, it’s governed to a max of 71 mph, no matter what the Speedo tells you.
Like a Cub or super Cub, its greatest asset, for me at least, is that it’s a charming thing to ride and an honest bike with no frippery and proper mudguards.
Off to France on it in three months for a couple of weeks, it’ll be right at home there off the Autoroute.

Good write up Slowboy, the engine is great, the reason I brought the Hunter. But the surprise for me is so is everything else. At 5'7'' the bike fits perfectly and it is a light bike. If everything carries on being good I will sell the other bikes I have. It does it all.

I've an inkling that these Enfield 350s ( Meteor, Classic, Hunter so far,) are going to be of interest to forum folks.

I'll seriously consider collating every Enfield 350 post into here from now on, and merge any new topics about these bikes.

I have passed a few winter hours looking at the latest REs. My conclusion was that the performance would be about the same as my Mash 400 but the build and material quality is undoubtedly higher. I am now seriously considering the Zontes ZT350 GK which seems to be the best of the Chinese brands for quality and although still a single cylinder should have that little bit more power for overtaking compared to the above. To be blunt I would like to be able to at least hold my own in the outside lane when forced to use motorways. The Zontes does very well in youtube reviews although it has a bit too much electronickry for my liking - the price of modernity!

I am a proud owner of a 2022 Royal Enfield 350 classic reborn and I cannot emphasise how good the build quality is. I have enjoyed my time with owning a C90 but when i did a test ride on the Royal Enfield I just had to own one. Having owned it for about 3 months I have come to the conclusion that I feel much more safer riding this bike as it has many safety features. I have added an under tray, engine protection bars + a small windscreen and boy does it look good. I have been looking for some good looking panniers with the Royal Enfield Motif embossed on them and noticed some for sale in India that also came with the frame bars. Sadly I had to cancel them as I was told by the supplier they could not now have Enfield on them and it just had to be Royal. What they were not also telling me is that there was an import duty on top of the price agreed. This came to light as I asked for a reduction in the price and all they could come up with is that they would state that the purchase price was lower so that the import duty was lower. This raised more questions than answers, such as they would be using our tax system to give me a reduction and also they were not making it clear that I had to pay extra import duty. I am now waiting for my local dealer to receive stock of a rear luggage rack so that I can fit a top box to it.

We had 3 Hunters and a Classic on a ride today, everybody was happy with their bikes and dealers.

I am now seriously considering the Zontes ZT350 GK

A small bike shop very local to me is a Zontes dealer. I'm impressed with the build quality having a look round them statically.

From the walkaround given by the dealer I found them a bit to tech-heavy for me, some of the styling cues like the exhaust are an acquired taste and from dealer quoted all-in prices, a grand more than a RE Hunter.

On a positive note, accessories (like a rear rack) for the ZT125 are readily available and fit the 350 too.
