Virago 535 Tyres.

Well, I've gone and bought a Yamaha Virago 535 and I need to get a pair of new tyres to replace the 13year old Metzelers. I know a few of you on here have had one of these bikes, so I was wondering what make of tyres you would recommend?

i found they dont like uneven roads roundabouts, pot holes, or any roads with bendsin them,

Billyfix and I used to have the 1100 (well, I bought it off him).
Loved it. Sold it and then bought another one.
Wish I'd kept it.
Can't remember what tyres I had on but I remember it used to do a bit of a wobble going over the white lines in the middle of the road.
Harley riders looked down their noses at me if I joined them.

Thanks everyone, all the things mentioned seem fair points and riding a C90 for so long means that I'm used to being looked down etc and compared to my C90 it corners like a Ducati. I've not had it long, but I think its brill and best of all, it's painted Rover Nightfire Red, just like a C90.
P.S. It's got straight bars and NO tassles, so quite rare

I put a Heidenau on the back of mine. I wasn't as impressed with it as I was the M46(?) that we like on the Cubs.

Nice little bikes. Carb rubbers are an arm and a leg. Shite fuel consumption, with pillion into a headwind full bore you could see 30mpg.

Beware the switched solenoid reserve arrangement they jam open, and you will run out of fuel. As I did on the M4. And Three times, no less, taking the daughter to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Couldn't even use the tripometer, consumption varied so widely with the conditions. Was expecting like 100-120 miles per tank and was running out at 70 or so.

Deffo keep a litre of spare fuel on the bike, at least.

Re: fuel consumption, mileage 'on a tankfull' varies with year, on early 535 models the top tank was a dummy, later used top & bottom, mine does 120-160 on a (top & bottom) tankfull (depending on 'enthusiasum)
Re: White lines, yes it can be a bit 'skittish' (generally worse if front tyre pressure is low]
Re: solonoid fuel tap, yep they can go a bit cranky, on mine the fuel pump sucks too hard so it partly drains reserve while still set on main, having ground to a halt on the M25 one time I now carry a 3litre fuel can at all times
