Riders Cub 50 question

Apologies for asking an almost certainly answered question, I have searched in the various forums and the pinned post regarding moped categories but:-

I have a 63 plate 2014 registered Riders Super-Cub 50, where on the V5 does it tell me which category moped it is please? Body Type says MOPED, Taxation class says Bicycle. It will be up for sale soon and I want to make sure anyone with a 16 year old that wants a C style bike could legally ride it, obviously the onus is on the buyer to make sure but I don't want a keen youngster coming unstuck.

On an A1 light motorcycle the body type states: MOTORCYCLE. It sounds like yours could have been registered as a category AM moped, especially if it states: MOPED under body type on the V5.

The dates add up, too. Nobody could give us a definite yes or no as to whether Riders Cub 50s were registered as category AM mopeds or category A1 light motorcycles after 19 January 2013.

No, unless the importers of the Riders Cub 50 managed to get some bikes registered as category AM-moped after 19 January 2013. Some Riders Cub 50s were registered after that date but we are unable to confirm that these were registered as category AM-moped, or category A1-light motorcycle.

You may have found a unicorn! My view is that this will indeed be legal for a 16 year old to ride. Some 16 year old yoof may be very lucky indeed.

Hopefully it also means that all the Riders Cub 50s registered after 19 January 2013 were registered as category AM mopeds. It's a fair assumption, but based on a sample size of 1, not statistically valid.

Sounds good, as the Cap'n says it could be a unicorn if it has Moped on the V5.

Think there were some variables at the time and later with the Zeths and Supercub branded versions, it depended on who registered it. Some Riders were sold as self assembly but came with proper details as to the correct name, classification and clarification on the insurance category on MID.

Most of this is my experience with the 110 though, I had trouble getting insurance (due to the importer registering it for me) on the Zeths but Bikesure sorted it.

Also think a lot of the 50's were sold to people making Custom Cubs as they were £100 cheaper in 2016. Rare bike IMHO.

Only for sale because there is another Riders cub in the shed(a 110cc) a 74' C70, a fantastic jialing innova sort of copy, and a C50 on it's way to us

Met a guy at Squires last year who bought 8 Zeths Cubs from MiniBike Craze when they closed and still has them unregistered.

That might be tricky to get them on the road. Wouldn't they have to meet Euro 5 if registered now?

Probably but think there may be a way round it.

He reckoned that he'd put one on the road and sold it, recouping what he paid for all of them! He was in no rush to sell anything.

Sounds like BS but he is there nearly every day as lives local, well known in sidecar circles too. Didn't see him this year.
