The 2023-on Suzuki Address/Avenis/Burgman 125 topic

Happy Days, Suzuki finally 'addressing' the gap in their line up  October not the best time of year to launch a new machine (read Asian stock) but if plentiful in supply Im sure the delivery bike market will take the bulk.

No mention of prices or kick starters (hopefully there will be) but unlikely to keep production costs down

The Avensis has kick start but the rear fuel cap will kill the delivery bike sales as issues fitting a top box

Access/Address also has external rear filler so again I think delivery market a non starter (unless theres a top box solution)
Both have single shock so possible to remove wheel without taking exhaust off (not easy but poss') and kick start.
BHP looks low for a 125 :(
Basically Suzuki have pinched from their India market rather than Thai/Indonesia
Cant wait to try them out, hopefully sensible monies

Very low! 8.7 PS (9 bhp essentially) is equivalent to pre-Euro 4 Chinese 125 auto scooters.

The air cooled £1700 Euro 5 Sinnis Shuttle now has a (claimed) 12 bhp. The air cooled Piaggio 125 Liberty a (probably more honest) 11.3 bhp

I like the styling, though. 8-)

It looks more like it's looking to compete with Yamaha's D'elight 125. Low power, small wheel, trad-ish styling.

Possibly no bad thing. The D'elight looks weedy and tiny on paper. To ride, they're a peach. 8-)

You don't see the delivery riders using 'em, though.

Confusing but the new Address we are getting, has already, known as the access, been cruising round the streets of Dehli for some time.

Ooooof, those really fell from the ugly tree.

Seems a real step back from the fantastic Address 110 - I guess people who want that configuration are now looking at a Honda Vision or a Lexmoto Urban (Longjia).

There's been some questionable range decisions at Lexmoto recently!

The Urban isn't a current model now, either.

Both Lexmoto and Sinnis ranges have been severely decimated by the twin blows of Covid and Euro 5.

I'm guessing that the Address 125 is made in India, or at least somewhere other than PRC.

Ooof, I'm getting old and out of date!

Looks like the only remaining models are the very average Znen Shuttle/Titan and the Longjia Diablo, which is thankfully a decent bike.

Sad times we live in.

Yep, it's a result of a "perfect storm " scenario for the UK at least, created by the joint efforts of:-

1. Euro 5
2. PRC's draconian covid-zero policies and enforced lockdowns
3. The rapid growth of the owner-rider food delivery market (particuarly during/following 2020 lockdowns)
4. PRC's working factories gearing up more for the inevitable rise in EV demands

The whole 125 auto scooter market's landscape has changed in the last 2 years. Honda's 125s plus the Yamaha NMax and XMax 125 fly out before they even hit showroom floors. In 2019, buy a 1-2 year old used example and the mileage would be 2-5 k miles. Now, 1- 2 year old examples will regularly have 15 - 25 k miles on the clock.

The cost of Chinese scooters has risen, while demand has plateaued then dropped, and the cost of producing a vast range of options doesn't make economic sense any longer.
