Roughly about £120 last year.
Mine is going in for its second service on Monday as that will be the last service it has whilst under warranty. I'll let you know what that cost me on Monday.
At 300 they just change oil and filter plus check if anything needs adjusting like chain, spark plug gap etc and any lubricating like centre stand etc. They also give the bike a good check over for anything that needs tightening etc.
All services are expensive but you don't have a lot of choice whilst the bike is under warranty .

Thanks, I was undecided whether taking it to the dealers or just doing it myself would be easier, but if it's that cheap and there's a possibility that I get a Himalayan to test again as well, then getting the dealers to do it is what I'll do. I am unsure about voiding the warranty as well if I service myself even if I'm competent enough to do it.

My supplying dealer is in Dumfries, my 3000 mile service will be due about August /September time, if I am allowed to cross the border by then.. I might have to go slightly over required mileage, don't suppose it will matter. I don't want to take it to either of the dealers that are only 20 miles away.

Any bike repair shop can service your bike if they use genuine parts (they have to be VAT registered ) Buy any parts from RE hang on to the paperwork and staple to receipt from bike shop .

If you do an oil filter swap on an EFI make absolutely sure you put all the new O-rings in and all the parts in the correct order - it’s a fiddle unless you have the Hitchcocks conversion kit installed but it’s vital to get it right or there will be zero oil pressure.
Number 24 is the actual filter.....

That's worth knowing once I start servicing the bike out of warranty.
What can you tell me about the Hitchcock's conversion kit, dd?

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500 efi
I found one had already been fitted to mine, I was all prepared to collect all the bits and found there wasn’t any.
Makes filter swaps a much easier affair.
It’s very difficult to get all the old oil out of the system as the timing case doesn’t drain unless you unbolt the whole affair. As mine had very dirty oil in it when bought, I’m doing 1000 mile oil changes with popping off the timing case each time as well just to try and get the oil clean.
Hydraulic roller tappets do not take kindly to grotty oil, also if your bike tends to backfire on overrun as I’ve seen quite a few EFI’s do if the exhaust gasket gets dodgy then it can destroy the exhaust tappet and they are a real pain to swap out (head and barrel off and the hands of a brain surgeon can just about do it; otherwise it’s engine out and split the casings).
There is an easy test for the exhaust tappet, if there is any play then the decompressor won’t work so turning the motor over on the kick starter will hit compression.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500 efi
^^ I haven't checked but since mine is a 2018 C5, isn't it likely that it would have the conversion as standard?
