Can you get the Postie back as hand luggage? It's a lovely bike.
regards
Dave
It will stay here for a year or two at least as it was such a performance to get it registered. Next time I come will be able to ride it straight away. I will probably paint the tank but that's about all it needs.

I'm over the moon with it. It starts first kick every time except when I accidentally knock the kill switch and haven't noticed. Having 3 gallons of fuel capacity is good too.

I am looking into the feasibility bringing over an NBC110 or two, Tim is interested in getting involved too. They have electric start and fuel injection (maybe a Wave engine?) and the Post Office seem to sell them off at auction after about 25,000km which seems to be 3-4 years. Won't be this time but Tim may well scope out a local auction. Chatted to a couple of Postmen who seem to like them. :D

Just been out and filled up the CT - 12litres, bit of a difference to the 2.5 that can just be squeezed into the Kayak. :D

Cost - $16 - about £8 -

Back home now and reflecting on it all think I fell on my feet with this one! Did over a thousand miles with no problems apart from a carb problem on the day I came home. It ran out of petrol and obviously dragged some muck into the carb and will only run with choke on. Still starts first kick and runs well!

When I go back will be taking some EBC grooved shoes and a carb repair kit. I will also source a standard CT seat for it as the one on it does not have enough padding. Whilst I do the carb I will probably paint the aux tank to tidy it up.

Still thinking about getting an NBC110 or two back. Spent a few hours last week watching an online auction for 10 bikes, fresh from Australia Post. This is about 15 miles away from Tim's house and he has storage space (we built a huge shed last week!) and looks like they release 10 at a time through there every 3 weeks. All about 25,000 kilometers and very reasonable even with the $200 odd charges from the auction house. Getting them back next thing to work out plus the importing and registration faff. No hurry though (won't be doing anything until I go back). I do have a Son in Law who works in shipping so will be bending his ear!

Watching the auction and trawling through all of the photos I noticed that none of the bikes have kickstarts. Apparently Australia Post advise the removal of them as there have been a lot of instances of numpties getting them up their trouserlegs and falling off. Had a laugh at that one, the "real" postmen I saw wear shorts, have very brown knees and don't slow down for roundabouts. There must be piles of kickstarts in every depot.

On reflection I remembered that I had removed the kickstart from the Kayak as I got fed up with it going the same way.

Did you look up the jet sizes in the carb before departing the great land of Oz?

It looks a great little bike & I guess that you would have a few takers if you shipped a few back & offered them at reasonable prices ( :o ).
I have just seen an ad on *bay for new Honda cross cubs 110 for £2999 available in July I think. There`s not much info on the ad & the seller doesn`t have any blurb for them yet & says when he gets it, it will be in Japanese, so very helpful.

Interesting that! Looks very similar to the NBC110.

There is a fairly large Oz "Postie Scene" on Facebook nowadays (which is how I found mine), what few forums I have found seem to be lapsed. The traditional CT90/110 seems to have been more popular and the NBC looked down on as it is made in China, apparently. I have noticed more people commenting favourably about them in the last year or so. This will no doubt push the price up at auction. The CT110s still coming up (think in Queensland) command a higher price even though they are a year or two older when released. At the moment I reckon a bike would end up costing just under $1000 to buy (about £560) which is a real bargain. All depends on shipping and import/registration aggro.

Got plenty of time to assess whether its worth doing although I do quite fancy one over here with 2.75 knobblies front and back and some kind of snorkel to tackle some of Ben's Byway Bashes

The supplier of the Cross cub has sent me a couple of links to show the spec & it turns out to be automatic :(

I hope I`ve got those right!

They would do nicely! V Rubber are they not? Not sure what the make of the tyres on the Postie are but they seem good off road. On road the front does come into contact with the guard occasionally under heavy braking. Did have one "moment" when heavily loaded and chasing Tim around a long bend. Just a bit of buttock clenching really.

That happened yesterday too. Got the Buell out via my plastic grass filled paving down the garden which is a bit on the wet side. Out onto the dry road, slight throttle and instantly sideways! That'll learn me.
