2014 Honda Wave 110i MPG (7k on clock).

Over three fill ups. (Recording mileage at fill ups - litres used).

Average is 118mpg.

Taking into account:

I weigh 100kg.

I tend to leave the bike idling when locking the garage at home, plus locking the workshop up before my return journey from work (wasting fuel!).

Complete route to and from work, is thru estates with no steady throttle settings. All sub 30mph with one short 40mph bit. Mostly stop-start thru the gears at traffic lights and mini roundabouts, but no real hills to speak of.

I reckon..? Just maybe, if you were sub 70kg and held the throttle at a steady RPM with no hills. 160MPG (quoted fuel use) just might be possible, on long run with good inflated tyres on good tarmac.

Am I too far out with my fuel usage (consumption)?

My 2007 Innova with me on the back at best part of 18 stone gets 157 mpg, or should I say did 157 mpg when I took all the stats over a few weeks 12/18 month ago.

Comparing figures can be fraught with errors.

Me and a mate bought 2 of the first batch of PCX's to land in the UK, I always got 114mpg and he always got 134.

I did accuse him of having limp wrist.....

Couldn't agree more, every bike, every rider different.

on my loncin I got rearly excited when I did mpg test , I was getting well over 160 on a tank full , of 3.5 ltres , but not for long my mate pointed out the reading was kilameters

Just to add, I was 18.5 stone when I first got my C90 and now im 12.5 stone and my mpg has not changed

Average 150mpg on my 110 and thats hard riding, 120 now I have upgraded to 125 but trust me weight makes hardly any difference

That makes sense. If you start and finish at the same place, there's as much downhill as there is up and your weight will be an advantage.

I've got it back from my daughter's partner, currently in the shop for a few not so subtle mods, then I'll use it over winter before tarting it up.

I am not sure if 118mpg is good or bad?

I am sure if I took a differing route to work, down a straight road with steady throttle settings, the MPG be higher.

The route I have chosen is all stop start, junctions to mini round a bouts.

But it does avoid lots of traffic and "getting blown about by lorries".


I own a car repair workshop, I have taken the plug out of the Honda, the colour is right. The Honda is not overfueling.

I think the "lowish" MPG could be the fact the maximum journey length the bike does is 1.7miles. Given the fact some of the time the vehicle engine is running, it is idling on its stand (not recording mileage), plus as it is fuel injection a good part of the running time is on "fast idle", due to repeated cold starts.

The use the Wave is getting could well be described as "urban" in the truest definition.

Plus the margin of error working out MPG with such a small amount of fuel at fill ups could affect the results.

I am 51 years old, I can assure you I have been very gentle with the throttle.

I think what I need is an excuse to take it on a long steady ride out.
