Innova tyres: brands & sizes

Post by c9-oh » Thu Mar 23, 2017 3:10 pm

So, I had my first puncture on the Innova (2006 carb model) on Monday. Removed the rear wheel ok and set to with the tyre levers and after an hour of cursing the tyre was off and the culprit identified - a stone had worked its way between the rim and tyre. The tyre is slightly damaged on the bead so I think I'm going to treat the old girl to some new boots and tubes front and rear. (I suspect the one's fitted are from new since the bike's only done 6500 miles)

Tyre choice in the OE metric sizes seems limited from what Google's shown me. What's everyone using once the OE items have had their day?

Thanks! :)

Mike

Conti Go 2.50 /17 front Michelin Pilot Street 80/90 rear .Finding metric tyres is difficult Michelin and Heidenau tyres come in metric sizes.
I believe 2.50 /17 for front 2.75/17 rear is the nearest size although I have heard some of the German Innova owners fit 2.75 front and 3.00 rear but have no experience of using that size

I used to run the 3.00 rear & 2.75 front but beware the front mudguard would need to be modified @ 50mm tip off it ! :? ! to allow clearance under braking , the 3.00 rear also brings the speedo up to almost cock on rather than read under and gearing better 3rd gear pull but the top end is around the same unless going downhill ! !
My choice of rubber was always Metzeler ! 8-) !
Cheers Vk. ;) .

Hi,
I'm an Innova owner and have Metzeler ME22, front 2.50 rear 2.75. I think you'll find they are highly rated on here and check out what the guys on the Plop racing threads have to say!!
