Does it say why the filter failed?
If it's a plastic one it can be made brittle by the ethanol content.

Are lots of pumps failing because of Ethel's content? Honda's have been recalling pumps and I think it's the seals failing.
Since buying a Carb model CBF600, I know the pump won't fail, cos it's not got one, the ECU won't fail because its not got one, the immobilizer won't fail because it's not fitted with one. Add in all the sensors and wiring and I like going back to basics.
Have you looked up the price of all this new stuff.
