I agree with Capitano on the oil , I would check all the oilways are clear as well blow some carb cleaner through them .

Re: Honda 110i Wave.
Could also be the camchain tensioner got too tight at some point - that would also kill the bearing.
But you will be fitting a new chain and tensioner anyway.........won't you?

And tappet clearances too, Ta.

Re: Honda 110i Wave.
I'll do my best to describe it in words. Here's my Fi Cub Top End Disassembly for some picture references. Has a pic of TDC in there.
viewtopic.php?f=60&t=28020#p259474
Set the motor to TDC.
Install the cam with the two lobes facing directly towards the piston. Hard to explain, but the space in between the lobes (if you are looking at the face where the cam sprocket attaches to) is going to directly face up to the piston.
Install the cam sprocket, it should only go on one way. The bolts should form a straight "line" perpendicular to the piston crown.
For valve clearances, should be apparent once the head is on the bike (same lock nut adjuster style as the Cub). .004" Intake/Exhaust (Deutsch manual says .10mm both).
Re: Bearings, I've seen very few "factory" failures but many more failures due to lubrication. The fact that the bearing race seized somewhat in the head tells me it got hot and warped slightly, so I'm assuming there. I use Thai and Vietnamese NTN bearings all the time and they're really quite good. One of our workers has a Super Dream 100 with a 40k miles that's 17 years old and the engine's not been apart yet.
Future reference, 6001 is the same size as one of the roller bearing C90 gearbox bearings, small side of the input shaft I believe.

SMB Bearings came up trumps. Ordered yesterday afternoon, arrived this morning.
So now my erstwhile mechanic (Mat the splat) is out there shoving it all back together whist i have the dubious pleasure of cleaning and flushing out the shit from underneath and then inside the engine.

Cam chain is toast !!
New one on order
One good thing today. Mrs stevew was out this afternoon, just when i needed to pop the head in the oven and the cam assembly in the freezer, what a beautiful coincidence of the heavens
Dinner was just as good too. Couldn't taste the cooked synthetic

Re: Honda 110i Wave.
Just checking, are you sure the head is okay? I've never had to "press" fit any cam into a Wave or newer type engine before, usually just slides in like a Cub. Just want to make sure nothing is warped and damaged.

Re: Honda 110i Wave.
Head doesn't seem warped so i'm going to go ahead.
Appreciate your thoughts though. TBH there isn't really anything i can do if it's warped anyway. New heads are £180
BTW anyone know what the thread is on the flywheel so i can get the correct puller?
Looks to be about 29mm dia across the tops of the thread and quite a coarse pitch. It's a male thread too so going the need a female threaded extractor.
This looks right but i'm not sure:-

Re: Honda 110i Wave.
If I make it out to the market today I'll check for you (an old lady sells Cubs, Waves, & Dreams nearby my house).
I'm almost positive it's not the ANF size but rather, the e-start Cub size. Problem is, I can't remember thread pitch it was...hang tight I'll see if I can't make it out today.
