Lights gone dim after fall Tomos ntx50
My son had a fall on black ice last night thankfully both him and bike ok ,
on testing the bike at home found all lights have gone very dim also indicators not working at all ,Rev counter not working ,instrument lights not working all were fine prior to the off !
The bike is a Tomos Ntx 50 trail bike with magneto powered lights 1991
Any ideas ?
Thanks
J

I'd suspect poor earthing with those symptoms.

The generator for lights etc on these don't have a wired earth from the generator to the loom it's done through the engine mounts into the frame.
Make sure the engines got a good clean contact with the frame and the earthing tag to the loom is a good and clean. Also as already asked which side did it fall on ,did it knock any switchgear about.
Always usefull to have hold of at least one end of the string !.
Is it something as daft as hi/lo switch or associated wiring is damaged and both headlamp filaments are trying to light ?
Thats enough to wipe most of the power out on a generator that size

Bike did fall on the left hand side I will have a closer look at the switch gear and have a look at the earth tag to the loom
Good to know the mag earths through the engine mounts as the only two wires coming from the mag go directly to a voltage regulator I think
Hopefully get time tommorow
Cheers

Should be a yellow to the voltage regulator and a black to the HT coil.
