Hi, When I was about 10 years old the lady who lived opposite us kept here bike with a mini motor on it in our garage when she went to town on the bus me and a mate rode it around the village, the colour of the tank was a light blue not as dark as yours. Lafree

My thoughts as well.

A friend of a friend has a cyclemotor but can't get it taxed/registered because the local MOT man doesn't know how to classify it or how to test it.

The mot man should know better, it's the same rules as mopeds with a few extras as they cannot exceed 25mph.

Moped differs from motorcycle -

Tyres - may be under 1mm of tread so long as the pattern is visible over the whole tyre
Headlamp (no need for dipped beam)
No need for number plate illumination
No need for speedo illumination

Cyclemaster & Velosolex et-al sub 25mph mopeds

No need for speedometer
No need for stop lamp

One thing to bear in mind if your doing the 'custom cub' thing - the reflector must be on the centre line.......

Statutory reflectors
b. obscured
c. insecure
d. obviously incorrectly positioned
Mopeds and motor bicycles require one unobscured red reflector which is aligned to the vehicles longitudinal centre line and is positioned to reflect squarely to the rear. If the motorcycle is fitted with a side car the side car will also require a reflector fitted towards the nearside and positioned to reflect squarely to the rear.
