What about deflating it to 10psi (or whatever that is in Euros) and seeing if it senses it OK?

Not a bad idea though I'd have to reinstall and ride the bike whereas I just want to take the wheel in in the morning early now. Presumably they'll be able to tell by looking if there's a problem.

A local wheel refurb company would sort out the wheel for you. You will have to take the wheel off for them. Most will come to your home and do the repair/painting in the back of a van ( usually a specially kitted out van). They deflate the tyre off the rim. Then repair the alloy and repaint it in colour to match. Usually the cost would be in the region of £50-£65 or so.

I have sympathy for you and the tyre fitter. Wheels have become pretty objects, tyres have become tighter and more technical, requiring a certain amount of force bordering on violence.

Latest update.
Here I am trying to keep the cost down for the original fitter ( one man business) and why?. Went to wheel refurbishment specialists who would powder coat the wheel for about £60. But I would have to remove the tyre, discs, bearings etc.
Trouble was I could not get the discs off. Drove around to different pals with no joy. Even went to the maintenance dept where I work and they couldn't get them off.
In the end I thought Stuff it. I went straight to BMW and handed the wheel over to them.
Fortunately I know by refitting the wheel this morning that the tyre pressure sensor is working. They'll do all the work including replacing the ten disc bolts. Plus they'll guarantee not a mark on the rim when they refit the tyre.
At present I've been running around like a blue arsed fly and it's not even my fault.
The charge will be £150 which I shall have to pay to retrieve the wheel before presenting garage with the bill.
Any advice on the presenting of that bill will be appreciated.
