After the success of the manual choke conversion I'd never give one of those auto chokes house room ever again.

I'm inclined to agree with you of course.

I still think there is something not quite right with the carburation on mine - starts very well indeed now with the new choke mechanism but still feels like the throttle response isn't quite what it should be.

It's a shame you aren't closer location-wise. You could try ours and compare.

It might improve with use. I've probably said a number of times but ours runs better if it's used more regularly.

I eventually fired up the Ludix yesterday after not doing so for at least 6 months.... What a carry on!

Seems that you need to cover the carb to start if it is left for a while...

I've noticed that the new come almost acts like an on of switch. If it on the bike runs like it should with the choke on but if flipped fully off, it just dies..

Any ideas?

They need time to warm up on choke.

Ours bogs down if ridden straight away on choke, and dies if it's run straight away without.

If left on choke for a few minutes sat on the drive it'll set off and run nicely with no choke.

That manual choke mechanism you put me on to has been an absolute Godsend. 8-)

Does your Ludix absolutely rev its nuts off with the choke on?

That's one of my main concerns right now, other than that I need to investigate the slight play in the rear wheel hub.

Probably need to find a cheap place that does bike MoTs too.

For a few seconds yes, so I apply the rear brake and it settles to a high tickover.

That sounds like the same scenario then!

Have to admit my super cub just seems so bloody civilised by comparison!
