Well I took the Ludix out the shed today and thought I'd start it up.

Did the usual routine of pulling off the airbox pipe and blocking it while kicking the starter and putting the choke on.

Fires up in a massive cloud of smoke and revs away merrily...

Try to shut off the choke and it simply dies...

I can almost shut off the choke (using my fingers) say almost 3/4 closed and it will run almost at what I'd expect to be a normal idle speed but of course the lever will not stay in this position.

Looked at the carb and I can see there is a screw on the left side of the bike...is this a mixture screw or suchlike?

I tried tweaking it, to no avail, although the engine note did in fact change.

Any further ideas...?

Whip the carb off and clean it out.

They do get encrusted with petrol "varnish".

That's why I use Mrs Capitano's Ludix regularly, so that on the rare occasion she wants to ride it, it's ready to go ... and I don't have to whip the carb off and clean it ... again! :D

I'll give that a go soonest - have a can of carb cleaner at the ready here!

Well I cleaned the carb yesterday and put it all back together.

Started it up as per normal and took it off the choke - it stopped idling...

Fiddled around for about 30 minutes adjusting throttle cable, the small screw on the carb in and out...all to no avail....

Then let the bike idle for about 30 minutes "on choke" and the smoke died down and the bike ticked over perfectly...was responsive to twisting the throttle...the mind boggles...lol :?

Well, I had an enquiry about the Ludix on Sunday afternoon......

And last night a chap came round with a van and had a quick blast on it and headed off into the night with my Ludix Trend in the van and a wad of folding stuff left in my pocket.

So, now there's some additional space in the shed for something else to gather dust....any suggestions?

Damn, so I'm back to being the solus Ludix apologist on the forum ... unless anyone else wants to step up.

Probably too similar to your Lexmoto but I've always fancied a Sinnis Trackstar since seeing the very first one commissioned by Sinnis in Brighton.

Out of interest (and not because I'm considering parting with Mrs Capitano's Ludix) how much did it fetch? PM me if you prefer. :)

I got £260 for the Ludix.

One younger lad was offering me £350 if I could get it MoT for him...I'd say 300 would be a good price for one....?

I like the look of the Sinnis as well but I think having two Chinese tiddlers in the shed is enough for now. ;)

I have a slight hankering to get one of those Retro SS50 type bikes but not really "needing" it as such......

Yep, my inkling would have been £200-£300 being as they aren't legal for 16 year olds to ride now. I often park Mrs Capitano's in a car park across from some retail and food outlets.

The guy who manages one of the units came over a few weeks ago and said he'd seen it regularly and figured it must be reliable.

He offered £500 straight out and would have gone further had I not said that I couldn't sell my Wife's bike (despite the fact that she rides it only 1 or 2 times a year).
