peugeot Maxi scooter

Been looking at these since one snagged my eye the other day on ebay... Seems like a lot of machine for the money used...Innova Injection cash in fact...

This one's under £1400, ABS linked brakes, loads of fancy kit plus tons of space, awesome headlights (it's got a pair of Peugeot 407 headlights (maybe not a Chinese bike then???) and it's deffo had full dealer history cuz it's the bike that was used in this review amongst others http://www.inter-bike.co.uk/reviews-mot ... eview.html

Any reason why the 250's seem so much cheaper than the 500 and 125 versions....Is it something to do with demand, or is there a sinister issue with them...?

When I bought the Bee Emm a couple of months back they had that model in stock a 2007 in good nick. I think they are asking £1,299 for it. I've checked they still have it in stock. Orrell motorcycle centre.

Are they all the same ...ABS and so on?...Or did they get better as time goes on...?...Seems damn cheap for something that costs nearly £4000 new doesn't it. Considering a 2009 Injected Innova costs about £1300 and only cost about £2000 and a bit new...

As Peugeot don't make their own engines, I guess they are using the Piaggio Quasar engine unit, so it would be worthwhile doing a little research in this direction (Honda motors have 2 valves in the 250 size, 'till you get to the new 300cc units)

I do know that Peugeot maxi's are very expensive when new but tend to plummet in 2nd hand value (even more than most maxi's).

Treat Maxi scoots similar to modern cars, they have a finite lifespan, and I doubt you will see many 10 years from manufacture. My Foresight is on it's 3rd rear tyre and the wheel is rather crusty and when you remove the panels the internals are rather similar. Even with consummate care bodywork locking tabs can be snapped off easily.

They are very easy to keep clean though, just wipe down in the morning when covered in dew with a microfibre, and it's good to go.

It is the Piaggio Quazar engine, I've had that in a X9, also look at the Aprilia Atlantic. Probably the best second hand 250's are the models without a digidash. A Piaggio Xevo 250 would be a good Italian scoot. A 400 would cost no more to run, a Burgman 400 or Majesty have the biggest following.

This is the main part of it but there are piccies as well if anyone is interested:-

ATM only thinking, but maybe, i'd like to get rid of the X9 500 and get myself a nice 125 like a Honda SH.
The X9 has been "down the road" with me on/off it and i have lost the love for it now. Got myself a Honda CB250 which does all i want so a little twist and go may be the route.
The tupperware on X9 had been mostly fixed up and it's MOT able with out any probs,
It's all straight and i have been riding it since the 'off' over some long journeys too. Still cruises at 85 mph on the motorway and feels the same as before the litle incident :o

Maybe sell for about £1100 ?
