Yep they were a completely unique sound around the Isle of Man that year, wish I could go back there sometimes. Sadly my time machine is in for a decoke.

I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing the bike at Mallory(have you heard it's gone bust by the way)ridden by my hero Mike Hailwood in the 60's.It really was amazing. I remember it going down the pit straight and the air seemed to tingle for minutes after it had passed.I can't remember if it was the 250 or the bigger one.

When the vid finishes there are similar vids to look at and one is the 1966 twin cylinder 50 starting and being ridden. The 125cc five is also pretty cool and looking at the needle flick around to near 20,000 rpm on the 22,0000 rpm tacho is pretty cool.

It puts some perspective on things when you realise that Honda had an 16 BHP at 21,500 rpm 50cc twin in 1966 when they were just launching the 4.5 BHP 50cc OHC single Cub to the public.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDd0kVnnqfg
