The main question is, where to source the bushing?
If it is just a bush, could you not make up a nylon one, using some rod, and a Dremel?
Even if you have to make another periodically, buy a metre of rod and you'd be set for life.

Sounds like a plan, I've got a mate with a plastic printer, wonder if that's a better idea?
It's strange that this component does not show up in any parts diagrams.
Mind you, the pinion is often not shown either....
