Good post Steve.

What was your solution?

I imagine you could trim the metal of the Rider's cage and then bolt it back up?

Or did you fit the Honda cage to the frame?

Edit:
Was the battery a YBL4 or a YBL5 for the Honda battery?
Battery was YBL4 only got the riders cage as i had some riders side panels i wanted to use but they would not fit with the Honda cage.
May just file a bit out of the bracket or go for a sealed battery.

I think I'll probably go for the sealed battery option as it's a fiver more (roughly) and saves faffing about.

Question is, gel or lead acid?

I'd like to fit a Honda side panel on the battery side (I have a matching pair with one fitted on the left side) but it's not nearly deep enough to cover all the gubbins. I'm in the process of stripping things down right now and will look into how I could possibly re-jig the setup to provide a "lower profile".

Yes, good post Steve!

Didn't get the opportunity to do my own research today. Spot of trouble involving losing my door key and having to track down a keyholder.
I often have days like that which are very straight forward but a spanner gets thrown into the works

I've trawled all through this thread in search of info on the brakes on my Kayak. Only a couple of comments saying the front brake is not up to scratch on the Riders. The Kayak front brake is excellent IMHO but I do like EBR grooved linings and would like a set in the cabinet, ready for fitting at a later date (the bike is a keeper - as are all my bikes at the moment  )

Whilst changing the front tyre today I decided to investigate -whoa! The drum is massive (comparatively).

Pic of drum before I cleaned it, other pic with a set of H303 Cub linings in.

Any suggestions? :D

No one seems to have found compatible ones yet
I guess its either hub change, bit drastic,or get the shoes relined
I think the shoes are most likely on the website of the company in Holland ?

Yes, luckily new linings shouldn't be needed for some time which will give me time to search.

It's almost certain that the same brake is used somewhere on the myriad of Chinese bikes. Just a matter of finding which. It's always fun searching through the Chongqing Guangyu Motorcycle Manufacture Co. product list. The new Baboon looks interesting. :D

Thanks! Not urgent at all but a pic would be good. Should have done my own before I refitted the wheel. I have been thinking (dangerous), will start by comparing with CG linings (H330) as they make copies of those.

One of my many failings is turning a random thought into an obsession!

Had my rear wheel out yesterday and noticed there's only very slight wear on the shoes. Almost nothing at all and it's all in one spot.

Blew the hub out with ECP's finest brake cleaner and re-assembled.

It's a bit of a carry on getting that back wheel in with only two hands!

Be interesting to hear what shoes fit the likes of Kayak and Riders.

Should be able to do a bit of comparing soon between Kayak and Riders.
Mattt's bike is coming to stay with me until my Daughter's boyfriend gets his CBT.

Ah so you are buying the bike from Mattt.

I hope the two have identical brake shoes as that would suggest future spares should be easier to source.

I watched a couple of you tube videos last night and saw where I was going wrong with the rear wheel..you leave the sprocket carrier bolted to the frame...
