MOT & CZ175 rear shock corrosion

Post by notgotc90 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 10:50 pm

I am slowlyng cleaing up a round tank 1975 cz175 with opil pump and do not wish to put any money into it, for obvious reason.

On the rear shocks, the chrome shaft inside the spring is corroded. Can I clean it up etc? Or is the obvious corrosion to the chrome, an MOT failure? Would I be abe to by the chrome shaft?

Does an odd bit of rust on the chorme of the spring matter if i clean it up?

thanks

A bit of rust on the spring itself is no problem. With regards to the rust on the damper rod - is it allowing oil to leak out of the shock? If not then you'll be OK.
