Old Chinese takeaway from 1996........

Post by cruncherkid » Mon Jan 28, 2013 3:04 pm

Found this rather spiffy "What Bike?" advertising feature for EasyRider Ltd from 1996....thought I'd scan it and share, best viewed full size :D

Not just the Cub being copied, we've got the Camino, the Melody, Yam Jog, Chaly.......etc.....enjoy and discuss!!

:o :o :o Jailing  Oh my God it's Black Country Petes clown bike ( named the clown bike, because when you ride it random bits just keep falling off). Touch/buy one at your peril    .

one of the lads on the muppet site has a jailing 250 which is the 250 helix copy, now I like the helix, missed out on a nice one last year, but the jailing,,its er, not my cup of tea, I remember the importers used to be in ipswich or aruond that area, , and they had many warranty problems. But I suppose if you can get one cheap enough, its defo something different.

Would anyone be able to tell the difference if blindfolded and presented with the JD/JL70?
One other question that has puzzled me for some time.
The Chinese buy these bikes. Most are devoid of cash. So although we titter at their bikes. Surely they can make them run for ever! Can't they?

Jialings are ace from what I've seen. had a couple of JH70s through my hands and the frame's easily as good as the SS50 it's cloned from. Didn't realise they did a 90 version though!!
Cheers for the posts CK. Interesting reading! :D
Funny how there's no mention of the H-word in the bikes' descriptions when they're exact copies! :P

Weren't those the bits Pete had fitted to 'improve' it? ;)

I did warn Julian not to buy that thing

On the plus side they make excellent organ donors for smartening up a battered old Helix... bodywork, screen (not the one in this pic), seat, top box, lights & alloy wheels all fit straight on 8-)

The mechanical bits are shockingly bad however and the frame of the one I dismantled had shed most of its paint & had way more rot than that of my 26 year old Fusion. It had remote start, an alarm and a stereo fitted - none of which worked. Not bad for 6YO and 3500km on the clock

The JH50 frame I had off Black Country Pete was as good as a H*nda and the paint on the frame was better....no honestly It really was.And then of course there's the exclusivity of the brand. ;)
