That looks like a magneto as opposed to an alternator.

this is 12v volt not 6v

Just a standard 12V kickstart motor... The flywheel is always like that. On motors with an electric foot the flywheel is the other way round and the stator is inside the cover, not behind the rotor.

Ok thanks for that. I've only ever dealt with 6 volt models so didn't recognise that layout.
