Re: frame
Hi
I was just wondering how you stand with DVLA if you swopped a frame over onto your bike that as no paperwork like this, when all you have is a frame number?
Would you just fill in the change of details on the V5 of your existing bike and hope that everything will be ok, not knowing the history of the other frame?
any answers

Re: frame
Don't EVER fill a new VIN in on a V5, it's a trap.....did 2 12V cubs back in 2009 as reframes at the same time....logbooks never to be seen again once sent in, they sent a buffoon to inspect, and was left with the hobson's choice of a new reg plus SVA and it would end up on a Q plate.....abandoned ship and broke the pair........radar wrote:Hi

So what's the alternative? Do you swop everything over on to the good frame and tell nobody then if you decide to sell it, transfer everything back to the old frame?
any thoughts?

Re: frame
stamping is illegal, and you cant reframe v5s anymore you have to register them from scratch
its really easy if the frame your using is 10 years or older, get a dating certificate from honda or a approved club, usually free but sometimes £10-£20
if it comes back 10 years or older your exempt from msva, so you just fill out a v55/5 and hand in at your local office with a mot, insurance, dating certificate and application fee

Re: frame
Not so simple. They won't date a frame. They want pictures showing the complete bike, and showing it like it's meant to be. If engine and frame numbers don't match, or the bike looks like a 'bitsa', it'll get a Q plate.asher wrote: its really easy if the frame your using is 10 years or older, get a dating certificate from honda or a approved club, usually free but sometimes £10-£20
