X4 JOB LOT HONDA CT90

Post by JohnS » Sat Aug 18, 2018 3:08 pm

Just having a look on eBay ,as you do,and came across these four CT90s,imported from the USA,all of them projects.
The starting price is £799 and there are no bids yet, with 4 days to run. They have to be collected from Atherstone, which I think is in Warwickshire.
There's 2 x 1966,1 x 1970 and 1 x 1974,non of them appear to be complete.
Unfortunately my tablet doesn't give me any item number and won't let me posted a link.
If anyone is interested just search eBay using my title.

I wonder if the high/low gearbox can be transferred to a Chinese 110-120 CC engine

I think not, at least not easily. I believe the crankcases are the same size as the 6v (larger with different mounting points), the output shaft is different and needs a special sprocket, the high/low transfer gears are on the outside of the gearbox. In my opinion it wouldn't be worth the effort.

Most restorers seem to just put in a Chinese 4-speed 110-125cc engine in and be done with it.

The price of a brand new Lifan engine won't buy you many Honda spare parts to rebuild the original engine.
