Re: Hi there
Thanks for the link with the pitbike coils. I can't seem to find one that has a replica fitting bracket that has only one wire coming from it.That's what mine has leading to the CDI... I was wondering if you know if I could disregard one of the wires. Otherwise I could just buy a single wire coil and sort out an alternative mounting method I guess.

And it has nothing else in common with a scooter. It's not a scooter.simon3314 wrote: The cub is one of very few 50 cc scooters that is designed to take a pillion passenger and can that actually perform that task too.

Re: Hi there
Bridging them kills the engine, by disconnecting the igntion switch you can be certain it isn't shorting internally. The 12v side is seperate to the ignition so having good working indicators and brake light is no indicator of the working status of the ignition circuit.simon3314 wrote:. I presume you have to bridge the ignition contacts to connect the circut? The best I can achieve with the ignition on and with indicators/brake light working fine, is a weak thin orange spark that can only be achieved by making it jump a gap from the plug to the engine block but there's is no way of achieveing a blue arc between the plug electrodes either touching or away from the block.
If you can only get the single wire coil with the correct mounting that will work fine, just leave the one connected to the rivet on the coil core floating or chop it off.simon3314 wrote:Thanks for the link with the pitbike coils. Re: Hi there
the 50Lac is a moped but earlier C50 bikes with 3 speed semi auto are motor bikes and need a full license to ride without L plates.

Nope, Not Scooter or Moped. As said above, it's a Motorbike. No running boards and no pedals.simon3314 wrote:Moped?Pjam wrote:And it has nothing else in common with a scooter. Oh boy, the amount of times I've had this argument and the amount of free pints I've had when I've challenged them to go out and find the pedals on my little motorbike.

Re: Hi there
I know the feeling Leiba.
I wonder if the misconception comes for a more recent time when most 49cc bikes did have pedals and were mopeds? .........

Re: Hi there
Even the police call it a moped. And the indulgent look I get from people when I tell them the cc. In London, as you know Pjam, 85cc is quite enough to cope with all the traffic. Having a bigger cc doesn't make those other bikes any better or faster. (They just take up more room in the bike parking spaces)
It was the same with my old Reliant Robin. People would say it was not a car because it only had three wheels but apart from that every thing else was car.
