Hello Everyone
Hello,
I have a question based on a 1983 model Honda atc 110 I know this is the C90 forum but I hope you dont mind me asking some questions.
I have bought a 1983 honda atc 110 but the previous owner has all missed matched parts on the engine,
The head of the engine has the front mount which seems to be original but the block of the engine has C90E stamped on it.
The thing is the block has the original alternator still fitted with the neutral switch behind it but it does not seem to match up with the ignition coil and the flywheel center bolt has been snapped off ( its a bit of a mess ).
I have seen some lifan engines for sale and was wondering is it possible to fit these to a atc 110?
Many Thanks
Chris

Re: Hello Everyone
Hi Chris, welcome to the club! Sounds like somebody has chucked a 6V C90 bottom end into the bike, is there a capacity cast onto the cylinder barrel to show engine size? I know the ATC110 and 6V C90 engines are mechanical cousins....the C90 is 3 speed and the 110 is 4 speed, how many gears can you select? I think that's a good starting point to get you some answers....
Tons of expertise on here from the other guys about shoe-horning other engines in, and the bracketry required for conversion from this particular shaped engine to the cub/pit shape Sounds like a fun project....

Re: Hello Everyone
To add to my above reply.....after a quick study the ATC110 is a slightly longer stroke, so i would bet you have an 89cc cylinder on it if your engine number is C90E-XXXXXXX......the front mounting lug is only cast onto the engine top cover, so could easily be swapped onto a 90cc engine....chris2004 wrote:.......The head of the engine has the front mount which seems to be original .........
Does your engine have a kickstart shaft? An ATC engine wouldn't have one, and would have a ripcord/pullstart mechanism on the left hand side........

Re: Hello Everyone
Hi Cruncherkid,
The engine that has been fitted to the atc does have a kick start which has to be pulled upwards by hand as there is no room to kick backwards with the back wheel.
This is whats making me think is it worth spending money trying to get this engine running (and still have a bad job at the end)
Or should I try and fit a lifan 125cc with electric star and manual clutch, if possible.
Regards
Chris

Re: Hello Everyone
Sounds like a Lifan might be the least hassle way to go.....you'll have to bracket the engine though to convert the mountings, been some recent posts about that, and not a conversion i have done myself. Have an ask in the engine section, and you will get some expert replies from the other lads for sure Electrics for these engines are well covered too, shouldn't be any hassle as an offroader will only need minimal loom......all the knowledge and help is here
