It's not looking good guys... I tried adjusting both ways. I tightened it and it got worse. Loosening it made little difference

Oh dear, sounds like the clutch plates are stuck together, which would mean a strip down and possibly new plates
Edit just had a thought my Lifan engines clutch wouldn’t adjust using the Honda method so I did this.
Release the adjusting screw, then screw it in until you feel resistance, try pressing the kick starter and continue to screw down the adjuster until the kick starter slips. Then turn the adjuster back a small amount, lock the adjuster nut.You may have to do this a few times to get it right, but if this doesn’t work either then it’s the clutch strip down.

Re: Howdy from the states!
Thanks JohnS! The kickstarter trick worked! The *clonk* of it going into gear is still a little unnerving to me but it when I hold down the shifter pedal now the wheel stops spinning so the clutch is working I guess.
Now I need to sort out the wonky wiring. The lights are only working about 20% of time. I'm probably going to have to just rewire the whole thing. I checked the rectifier and battery. It seems to be charging a little heavy, at about 9.25v but my experience with 12v systems leads me to think a few extra volts in a running state is pretty normal. My truck runs about 13.75v
The voltage at the 3 rectifier connections was 9.25, 4.8 and 4.6. I hope those are at least close to what they're supposed to be... A new one looks to be a bit pricey.

Any update on your progress? I have the same exact bike, i’m in York Pennsylvania. I’m currently in the process of converting it to a 4 speed, along with a few other changes.

Yeah, I figured that out after i posted, then realized it was from March 2023, not 2024. Still learning to navigate this site too as it is a bit different than i am used to. Thanks.
