C90 new lease of life... Help and advise please
Good afternoon all.
I hope we’re ok.. and enjoyed our 3 days of summer
I have had my C90 for 7 years following a charity ride from Nottingham to John o groats down the lands end.
My poor C90 finally decided enough was enough.
Rather than replace the engine components and keeping it standard I plan to give it a new lease of life as a custom Cub. I appreciate some prefer them standard.
I was hoping for some advise of reputable suppliers and parts.
I want to put a 110 engine in ... most likely a Lifan. Reuse my existing manifold etc.
Wider front forks to allow for wider rims and tyres..
I’m going to go for a powder coated flat Blue with a single brown leather seat.
It should look the nuts once it’s back on the road.
Can anyone advise me well where to buy parts that do fit well and any problems that I may face..
I look forward to hearing from you all.

Personally i dont like the customs and i would avoid the whole custom route, it's been done to death hence you can now buy all the custom bolt on, poor quality Chinese parts.... (minibike craze) theres nothing custom about a c90 with bolt on inferior parts.
Your spend loads of cash on it ride it a handfull of times, it will never ride as good as a Standard c90 and about 3 months later your sell it on ebay at a loss, seen loads of people do this and my self included.
Sorry im a Hater of customs, and ive made the expensive mistake myself and regretted it, but its your bike, Minibike Craze for your wide forks, wheels ect and pitbike spares for you Lifan 110.
Good luck with your project.
Thanks Terry

Hi Terry
Thanks for your reply buddy, appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I know what you mean about customs aren’t actually that custom anymore. I have toyed with keeping it standard and looking for a new Engine but I just fancy a change.
Also, thanks for the heads up on where to buy bits.
Does anyone else have any other experiences good or bad?

I started a custom cub myself. However I got bored with it, and the scene here is dying, so I sold it on.

Re: C90 new lease of life... Help and advise please
I too have fitted a Lifan 110cc 4 speed manual engine to my C90. The thinking behind this was to have a little more "finesse" with gear changes and a 4 speed box has to be better than a 3. I stripped my bike to bare frame & treated corrosion on main frame down tube also under rear plastic section.
With the Lifan fitted I had to use a different inlet manifold and spinner plate so carb didnt foul frame tube. Used the stripdown as an opportunity to check everything else, replace worn items, mainly with genuine Honda parts(eg brake shoes, cables etc). The bike can be returned to "standard" at any time as the original engine is in good mechanical condition(11000 miles). I can recommend Pit Bike Spares who are very helpful to deal with.

Thanks for your responses.
I think I’ll start with a new engine. Change worn parts for new originals and go from there.
As a few have suggested - the “ customs “ don’t seem to be increasing in value unlike the standard Cubs.
Plus the custom cubs look a bit like cheap cut n shuts.
Cheers guys
Craig

£5 k for a cub ...with 82 miles .In the ebay section.
Where are you ,stick a rough location and the year of your bike in your details
With a 12 volt bike engine swaps are easy ,the Lifan 110 is plug and play though, use the 90 carb and exhaust.
