Hi everyone. It's a pleasure to join the site, and I look forward to getting to know some of you.

First of all a little about myself. I live in Hertfordshire, and today acquired my first motorcycle, a Honda C50. As I am new to all of this, every help would be greatly appreciated, as I would love to get this bike back on the road.

The bike runs, and it has got a current MOT, but this is where it gets a little difficult.

It has been off the road many years, since a previous owner sold on the registration therefore came with no documents as such, except the MOT certificate (tested from the frame number).

Can anyone offer me any advice on what I will need to do to get the ball rolling? All help would be much appreciated.

Thanks folks - Adam :)

Hi Adam. You need a dating certificate to confirm the year of manufacture, a NOVA registration from HMRC personal transport unit, and then fill in a V55/5.

Thank you so much for such a quick repsonse! Where would I go to obtain a dating certificate?

I know a NOVA registration is for imported vehicles, how would this work in relation the bike I have acquired since it's not strictly a new import?

Once again thank you!

You can get one from Honda UK, or look at DVLA's V765/5 list of approved dating officers.

DVLA are insisting on a NOVA registration even when it's irrelevant because they are f*****g useless.

Fortunately HMRC personal transport unit are lovely to deal with, and will likely just issue a registration.
