Hello, and stainless bolt set anyone ?

Post by Flames » Sun Mar 11, 2018 10:23 am

Hello all,

I've finally started stripping down my C100, (which is a mere 56 days older than me !)

It's all going well, but does anyone out there have a link to somewhere that sells a stainless steel bolt set for the C100 (or a younger C50) ?

I'm trying for a set rather than sitting down with each nut and bolt and finding a stainless version of the correct size, length and thread pitch.

Thanks for any help

Welcome to the Forum!

Nice bike. I can't help with your question though.

I should think that there is one person on here who would love your registration.   Good luck with your quest.

There are kits available on e-bay but they only cover the much later bikes. I ended up just ordering the sizes I need for my early C90. Still haven't found all of them (but have got most) but I will - eventually.

Don’t get me started on stainless fittings; I’ve seem more irreplaceable parts ruined my the use of stainless nuts and bolts than I can shake a stick at.

They won’t rust - great.

Anything they are bolted to will - fast.

So which is easier to replace, a rusty nut or the frame/forks etc etc!

Rant over.

Welcome to the club, I do like C100’s.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the replies. I take it there will be an issue with differing metals causing the corrosion then ?

Cheers

P.S. - I've been warned that the leg shields from Thailand/Vietnam are inferior, and I'm best off trying to restore the original one. Is that correct ?

That registration number is virtually worthless.

I'll gladly take it off your hands if you wish. 8-)

They are not terrible, but originals are much better.
