welcome to the forum you will get the piss taken mostly but some times a gem of wisdom will emerge
keep us informed as to how you deal with the broken exhaust stud, in most cases it does not end well

Welcome to the club ,where are you put a rough location in your details, before you buy a battery check Drag90`s post in the information section on an upgrade . The 6 volt 90 needs a good battery to run.

I got it running sounds good, only problems were broken exaust stud, took it to my local bike dealer to seeif he could fix it , no chance he said, told me my only option was to drill a hole through my exhaust clamp as close to the proper hole and tap new threads into the head , it actually worked (well so far anyway) just waiting on new ignition with keys coming and full gasket kit as inlet manifold gasket was missing and exhaust gasket too which will explain slightly rough tickover,, sonic cleaned whole carb, cleaned air filter and changed oil with halfords classic engine oil, will keep an eye on it , but my old vdub camper runs great on the stuff, put a new 6v battery in 20 qid , bloody pack of duracell costs more, road it up and down my lane and all those c90 memories came flooding back, love how when you use the front brake the front seems to rise instead of dipping, its a 1977 model is it true it will be mot exempt come may ,, new seat cover came with bike so fitted it today looks the part and sanded and repainted the base,, well I am an upholsterer ,, born to be mild ,,, will keep updated on progress

New exhaust stud adjacent to the old!

Crikey! That's a new approach, I don't know anyone that's done that before!

The holes are only half an inch deep. And I believe there's an oil gallery behind one of them, at least on the 12v engines.

All's well that ends well. Just keep an eye for any oil weeping around the new stud, just in case.
