Hello - newbie from Wolverhampton here!

Post by JonH » Sun May 07, 2017 6:51 pm

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and thought I would say hi. I've been looking around for a C50 to buy to see if I enjoy it and get the taste for it.

Never owned a bike of any kind - just sold my Triumph Vitesse MkII and I miss the drives along the winding country lanes.

Thought the C50 would be a good idea as I don't have any kind of bike licence so a 50cc it is and then maybe take the test.
I have a quite a large budget of around £1500 (due to selling the Triumph) and would welcome any opinions, advice or pointed to specific threads - I am a blank sheet :-)

Jon

Welcome Jon.
Back on the '60's the Triumph Vitesse was one of my dream cars.
Good luck with your hunt for a C50. You won't regret it.

A C50 may not be a real option if you're hoping to ride it on a car licence. Others here know the legalities of it all.
Your car licence is a provisional for a bike so you'd only have to do a CBT (compulsory bike training) for a day and you'd be able to ride any bike up to 125cc on L plates for two years.
Then you could get a nice C90. :D

As the good Lady says there is are no C bikes that are legal for car drivers or 16 year olds , Even the ones that say moped on the frame are too fast for the current laws.
If we were in Europe you could ride a bike up to 125cc on a car license .
So bite the bullet and buy a 90 for up to £800 and find a school and pass a test.

Yep, ride a 90 for a couple of years, you'll love it.
If you want to take a test and get rid of the L plates, you'd have to use a 125cc minimum.
But that's way in the future, just get a nice little 90 and enjoy yourself for now. :D

Hi JonH, welcome to the forum.I'm not far away from you, I'm in Rugeley,Staffs. As the boys and girl have suggested get a 90 they are much more able to cope with modern traffic conditions and you will be able to keep up with the pack if you come and join us on any of the fantastic rideouts, especially the Matlock one which usually involves hills which the little 50 struggles to cope with.
