Yep, VDL 860K shown as red on DVLA. At least they are on there, makes recommissioning them a lot easier. :D
Yes it does.
But presents a dilemma. VDL 860K is registered to a red 1972 C70 that I don’t know the whereabouts.
Grey Bike that I will know the VIN but not the Numberplate!

I also found half an early C90
Vin starts C90EA051***
Which I can’t find much about. I’m guessing it’s late 60s?

C90-A0 came from 1966 .In a load of spares I bought a long time ago I have a DL plate for an elephant grey bike which is on the DVLA web site but no frame , I bought it in Shanklin.

No progess on any of the CUBs lately.

We bought a Mk1 MX5 two weeks ago and I have been busy tinkering with that.
(My wife owned the same car two years ago, and we bought it back from the guy we sold it to).

Still hoping to get my C90T on the road during June.

Good news is that Chris Francis did a £20 Search for me on DVLA, this 1970 C70 bike has the plate VDL 860K assigned to it.

So i can apply for a V5, and given its half complete, it’s likely to be suitable for a modified cub project.

The elephant Grey C70Z2 is now running, needs a carb gasket kit (asked Wemoto) which David Silver has, or CMSL have listed. I’ve applied for a V5 and hope dvla will assign the correct plate to it.

My 1996 C90T is still in bits with the new Logan 110cc sat alongside.

C70Z2 after 25yrs sat in a barn. It’s rusty but complete and will be kept original.

Ebay Seat, new battery, oil change, new NGK plug, carb clean, and hour messing around and it now runs 😀.
It needs a carb gasket kit, csml has one listed inc jets, but that’s almost £50 delivered. David Silver has gasket kit at £9.99 plus vat and post.

Lots of searching and a Keyster KH-0157N kit has been ordered from USA for £27.30 delivered. Fingers crossed.

My C90T is not looking so good...

Update on all three Cubs

1) 1996 C90T
Running out of time to get this on the road for southern softies meet. Cleaned up rust, painted with primer, swingarm and stand now back on. Need to get it back together with new Lifan and MOT ASAP.

2) 1977 C70Z-2
Running and working, got a pinhole in the top of the fuel tank. Carb needs a rebuild. VJMC did a dating certificate, paperwork is with DVLA and I’m hoping for an age related plate + V5 to arrive this month. It will be kept original and restored one day.

3) 1972 C70
Stripped for blasting and rear arch repair. Motorcross style custom build planned, got the swingarm, shocks, seat, Bars, headlight, plus donor wheels and engine all ready from another bike.

Got a letter from the DVLA today.
My application to register the C70Z2 that’s been in my uncles barn since 1993 has been rejected..

All details correct on my application inc dating letter, fees, Id, vin, date, etc etc
But they have declined it because I do not have a NoVa HMRC declaration (because the bike hasn’t been imported!!!).

VJMC have suggested I do the following:

FYI

No Documents for a UK or Imported Vehicle?

If you are in this situation, DVLA will keep asking for proof of NOVA number (proof of VAT and Duty paid) because you can’t supply this, follow the actions below.

Basically it comes down to the fact that you cannot prove payment of VAT. That would be either the original UK registration document or a VAT receipt from the original importer back when it was imported, or in the case of a recent import the letter of duty paid. The importer may not even exist any longer.

The solution is to send an email to ECSM.NCHCARS@HMRC.GSI.GOV.UK with a photo of the VIN number and a copy of the receipt along with a narrative of the issue of buying a bike in the UK without a V5, NOVA Certificate or Registration number, along with what you know of the history.

If that goes to plan and you satisfy their questions VAT at the rate of 5% (if the bike is over 30 years old) will be charged on the purchase price given on your receipt. They will then issue a NOVA number and reply with this by email, print off this email and send it in to DVLA with your V55/5.

Or just call the HMRC Personal Transport Unit on 01304 664171, tell them your tale, they'll send you a form to fill out, or tell you to write in with your story, then they will issue a NOVA registration for free. ;) :D
