Back at home, on the rest of the way down tomorow. Glasgow was a nightmare, used the spare engine now on the spare bike the rest of the way it would have been nice to finish on the old 1976 bike but it wouldnt have done it.
Full update on my return.

Finished yesterday about 3pm, thanks to all for your offers of help if we needed it, we only had a couple of minor problems but managed to sort ourselves out. Some of you on here have probably gone further than this to get a pint of milk but for me it was a major bimble but one which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Things to bear in mind if you havent done the trip before and are thinking of taking it on.

1. I should have done a full rebuild on the old 6v it would have made it all the way, Daves did despite clutch trouble at Sidmouth.
2. Stay well away from major cities you're not familiar with, the diversion on the A8 in Glasgow goes back round on its self and its no fun on a hot sweaty Saturday.
3. If someone lends you a petrol can always check for water in it before use as it makes switching to reserve in front of big lorries interesting.
4. Just because its June dont think that northern Scotland will be much above freezing.
5. If you've got it cranked over and your toes are scraping tarmac it wont go much futher down.
6. Give yourself more time, stop more ofen and take more pictures.
7. The vibrations from a C90 charging along at 46mph all day will rattle the pins from your watch.

I went with a great bunch of lads we had a giggle and rasied a bit of money for our local hospice, I'd do it again without hesitation.

Daves clutch became non exsistant but only on the pedal, centrifugal operation was ok. We took a look and found the gauze partialy blocked and the centrifugal filter full of what looked like dead clutch plate, if you look on the block of wood you can see what was scraped out. Stuck the casing back on with a bit of mastic borrowed off the farmer and it was away again working fine and went on to finish another 280 miles.

Great thread and pics chaps! A top adventure. I missed the whole ride whilst away from t' net, or may well have had a ride out for a brew with you at the nearest point. (looks like Settle on your list) Nice set of bikes too. (and a roadside spannering tale always makes good reading :D )
Cheers.

Well it wont be the last one we do, the next will be a more relaxed bimble. We ended up with days to spare and the weather was superb, we should have finished the week off with a gentle run back up the west coast as it was I was back at work on the Friday.
Now working on a hybrid engine for the next one.
