I use these at the top end of a tie down. Past through themselves on the handle bar grips and round the top shock mounts on the rear.
On bigger bikes round the fork leg just above the bottom yoke which gives you good triangulation, much better than from the handlebars. And non damaging to paintwork.

It does look that way buts its not on the mirrors, its a proper motorbike strap that goes over the grips and one arcroos the bars to stop them comming off the grips :D
