North Coast 500 22nd - 29th of June 2018
Guys and Girls,
This Year Chris and I have decided to do the North coast 500 in June ( hope it goes better than last years adventures ).
We were going to ride the whole way (2,000 miles) but with a limited amount of days off we have decided to trailer the bikes up to Scotland .
We will be leaving on Friday 22nd if June and will Start the NC500 on Sunday 24th, we will only be covering 100 miles ish a day to give us plenty of time to take it all in, so the bikes should be back on the trailer for Friday 29th of June heading down the country to the Peaky Rider at Matlock .
Seeing as wild camping is permitted in the highlands we will be looking to rough camp as much as possible so we have some beer tokens left for the Matlock weekend
Preparation of the trailer has already started, I basically brought the cheapest heap of #### with wobbly wheels i could find and have renewed all the Suspension units, hubs, bearings, Wheels, tyres and wheel arches. Going to lengthen the draw bar and add a new Hitch coupling and Jocky wheel too, so all ive used from the original trailer is the chassis
Thanks Terry

Funnily enough I was going to ask if the drawbar was long enough!
Good luck!

Its a tad too short for my liking, although it looks to be original, it has all the halmarks of a Dave Cooper trailer.bikerbaker wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 9:34 pmFunnily enough I was going to ask if the drawbar was long enough!

There are loads of places to wild camp up there. Also quite a few campsites as well. If I were you I would do the route anticlockwise. This means you get the best bits last.

I'm going to be on the NC500 at the same time, perhaps a little ahead - will you be on the Cubs? Look out for a noisy black Kymco.
I'll message nearer the time and see if we have any crossover!

I hadn't really thought about it, as stupid as that sounds - clockwise up to John O Groats, around a bit more clockwise and then probably back around anti-clockwise to come back down, across the ferry at Dunoon and down into Cumbria again.

Well more progress made this weekend, first off the trailer is comming along nicely, more angle iron added for extra tie down points and draw bar has been lengthened.
Now waiting for Jockey wheel and tie down straps to turn up, once the straps turn up i can put the bikes on and figure out were to put the tiedown points. Once the tie down point locations are known its just a case of a lick of paint and i need to make a ramp
I've also spent the best part of the day putting routes together, it starts from Thurso as we will be meeting up with the legend that is Mikey Sunter, and hopfully C90 Club Member Viper254, who we are hoping will join us for part or all of the journey so the route is nearly done been marking petrol stations and finding free camping spots, tried to keep each day to around 100 miles, Apple cross pass day....is only 50 miles as i want to do it both ways so will end up being 100+, cant wait till June
