Re: Dragon rally - in memory of Steve W
Sorry for the lack of updates, finally got the garage in order and the C70 on the work bench.
Gone from a roofless mess:
To having a place to work:
And room to do it in :
Other than maybe fitting a new silencer the bike is ready ,I have given it a good check over and have pulled all my camping gear out of the loft.
I'm going to pack everything on the bike and do a test ride this weekend. I think I'm going to remove the top box and have the tent / sleeping roll on the rack as I've got larger panniers and should be able to get rest of the gear in those therefore keeping weight lower.
I'll see how it all fits and post up some pictures, I did strap the tent to the inner legshield last year but I'm taking a slightly larger tent this year as the one man one wasn't that practical due to the fact it was too low to sit up in.
Less than a month to go now so should hopefully receive the second envelope with details of were the check point is , this will give some ideas to were the site will be although it's been said it's large , not a campsite and allows open fires off the ground so I'll be looking into taking something to burn possibly...
Donations up to £300 now which is absolutely brilliant , thanks to everyone who has donated, I'll pop the link below there's still time to bump up the total any amount appreciated

See you there we have used a bucket BBQ for a few years and some of those instant light logs from pound land (cut in half first), and a tent you can sit in is very usefull .

Re: Dragon rally - in memory of Steve W
Thanks Nic I'll try and do that
Well only a week to go now, I've been sorting small bits out like adding some correx to the legshields to protect my feet against the worst of the weather.
Also got round to adding some mounting points to the top box.
These are for bolting lengths of metal cabling together and I had them left over from when me and Steve built the rear pannier frames for his CG so seemed fitting to use.
With holes drilled some extra bolts and some rubber o rings to make sure no water gets in.
Works fine for the sleeping roll, looks a lot tidier and means I don't have such a fuss unstrapping bungees to get into the top box.
Donations up to £380 which is absolutely brilliant , here's the link if you would like to add to the total https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/robin-watson2
Thanks

Holy towboat shackles Batman, how much weight are you expecting to strap down on that poor plastic box!

I thought you might have been considering towing the VW as your camping trailer.
