Garage door stops play

No cub today, garage door cable went "ping" at the weekend - something went crunch as the concrete weight hit the floor ( not the cub ) and now its like an Indiana Jones adventure to get the door to open.. touch here, push there - wobble that.. hold....... it. I have to sacrifice a small goat to get it to close again..

Cant be bothered... ordered a new wire strop ( £10 ! ) for the door & I'm in the car today.. curses..

Which bit? The concrete weight? It's a bit extreme, and you'd have to get rid of the body...

No, the fact that the door can't be opened without a struggle.

I'd go along with the concrete weight, always a way and a load of fellow bike-ists to help with the other thing

Cornmek - a little advice from experience (maybe too late), always change the cables in pairs and spend a couple of quid extra for stainless.

Cheers,

I've replaced the cable & the door lifts again BUT the replacement wire isnt anything near the gauge of the old.. so it wont be another 20 years before I'm doing this again.. at which point I'll take on the advice given

regards

As you are near Southampton look for a marine rigging supplier ;) Stainless wire in any size and should be able to make ends as well.
