Four old Fogeys "End to End"

Post by knapdog » Sat Apr 11, 2015 8:49 pm

At last, myself knapdog, billyfix, libby and the fox have chosen our charity for the John O'Groats to Land's End trip on the 17th of June.
We thank you for all the help and suggestions you have given us along the way including petrol in the north of Scotland, luggage, spares, screens, etc plus whether to take "Roger" with us. Cue Roger:

We decided to fundraise for the Noah's Ark Childrens' Hospital so that the little ones in need of hospital care will benefit. We would be humbled if any of you would care to donate the equivalent of a couple of pints and have taken the liberty of providing the address to our page below. Beyond that we've included the description that we've added to the page in attempt to appeal to a wider audience beyond the C90 club.

justgiving.com/honda90

" On 17th of June 2015, four " old " friends, otherwise known as knapdog, billyfix, libby and the fox and furthermore, answer to "The Four Moped-eers", are riding from John O'Groats to Land's End on little Honda C90's ( see photo).

Despite having bikes of 1000cc and over, we have chosen the little 'uns and decided to "suffer". The Honda C90, also known as the step thru', cruncher or boneshaker was never built for comfort or speed. In fact the Honda C90 is slow. Slow but reliable and they will get us to Land's End, eventually, which is why we are going to spend nine days doing the 1000 miles. Over 60 million of these iconic bikes have been made and you will see lots of them still in the far east, though most have been plagued with rust, except ours, which have been fully restored and raring to go.

We have organised a courier to take them up the day before so don't worry, we're not going to ask anyone if we can borrow their van!

We will be travelling on B roads and minor roads for 99% of the time and will be up for whatever weather comes our way.

As parents and grandparents ourselves, we have been thankful for our childrens' and grandchildrens' good health but also grateful, appreciative and full of admiration for those who have looked after them when they are not so well, which is why we'd like you to help us in raising funds for this worthwhile cause - The Noah's Ark Childrens' Hospital Charity.

More photos will be added before and during the "expedition" for you to laugh and cry in equal doses!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. If you wish you can donate via Paypal. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. If you can get one I'd recommend a sheepskin for the seat it makes quite a difference. Enjoy the ride, stay safe.

Here are the four of us, from the left, knapdog, the fox, billyfix and libby starting off for a 100 mile trial run after having a coffee in Marco's on Barry Island
"Wha's occurin'?" :

The four of us are all very different. We're all now more or less retired but in our time, between us, we've been builders, carpenters, lorry drivers, engineers, mechanics, technicians, teachers and security guards.
We've been rugby players, hockey players, water skiers, snow skiers, cyclists and sailors, cricketers and card sharks, joggers and swimmers, snooker, bowls and darters, but we also hope to be pretty good at raising money for the Noah's Ark Childrens Hospital Charity to help those in need of special care and attention so that they can get better and lead full, happy and active lives.
So don't forget with four weeks to go we'd be more than grateful for your donation if you don't mind foregoing the price of a pint. You can tap on the link below to see how things are progressing without having to commit a donation:
