Hi all - i'm sure that you have heard this a few times in the past, a friend my girlfriend and i are travelling from lands end to john o groats on the old faithfull Honda C90's starting on the 10th September. We are taking quite a scenic route and total miles will be above 1200. We plan to do this trip in 6 days but have a few extra if something goes pear shaped. We are doing it for the British heart foundation charity and paying for everything on the trip ourselves. We have a site set up on Facebook called "the snail run" please feel free to join this group so we can get the numbers up. We will be updating the page every day as we go.

6 days is more than enough time, only 200 miles a day. If you're not used to mileage, it may well hurt a bit, but grit your teeth and enjoy the pain - you'll be fine!

Several people on this board have done long trips for charity, some fully prepared, others just jumping into the mix and letting stuff 'happen' as they go along. I see you've already heard of Newt and Nut's insane winter JOGLE speed run (and that Newt wants to do it again), there are several of us who have done round Britain runs (myself included-my website is linked under my avatar if you look), and several others who have done long trips.

If you need any help or advice, just ask- we are a friendly bunch on here. Not necessarily sane though.

Yeh doing it for a good reason - my dad passed away about 2yrs ago suddenly at the young age of 61, like so many others he had just retired and was looking forward to his art and painting - but life can be cruel and he never got the chance. Myself and some others had planned something like this around 8yrs ago but it never happened so now we are gonna make it happen. I have had hundreds of bikes and still have 12 some crap and some good but all well loved and most running lol. I have had my C90 for approx 7yrs and love it. My mates laugh at me on it but i tell them you can see things on a C90 that you pass by on a race rep lol. long live the c90.

that is some milage id love to come over and do it but my journey from ireland (alone)would be too great before i even start !!!!!but good luck and enjoy the drive

We are travelling from near Aberdeen in Scotland to lands end to start our journey (with bikes in van of course) so it'll be almost down and up the country for us. After our 1200+ mile trip back up to john o groats we will have another 155 miles home the next day on the bikes, but hey the C90's are built for touring lol . We have a Facebook page "the snail run" that we will be updating as we go and everyone feel free to join the group and give us some encouragement.

Good luck! Best advice I can give was given to me by Nutter, and I did indeed see it's merits.
Namely, don't get caught on the A9 in the dark.
