hi, i'm looking for an engine for my 1964 C100, and a kickstart shaft as mine broke, plus any other bits anyone has as i'm in the middle of a restoration. Any help would be gratefull. thanks, rob.

Hi Rob, have got quite a lot of C100 parts, though am not sure exactly what is spare yet until the bike is getting put back together.....

Here's the project thread :) viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3085

Whereabouts in York are you? I'm in South Bank....York crew always on the lookout for extra riders for our days out :)

Hi, I'm in Dunnington, my bike is comming along nicely, but I snapped the kickstart shaft one day, so I would rather try to get a decent
engine(?) if I could to swap over and repair mine later, will other engines fit? you seem to know alot more about these bikes than me.
Thanks,Rob.

My partner in crime Vauxhallsteve is in Dunnington! Kickstart shafts are a known weak point, whole engines are hard to come by, good ones even more so...especially with a kickstart!! To be honest, even though its a full stripdown to replace the shaft, is a relatively easy job on a pretty simple engine compared to later types. Later 6v OHC engine should go into your bike with minimal fuss, but for me it completely ruins the character of the bike being what it is and how old it is....C100's are relatively rare. Are you going to put some pictures of your bike up? :)

hi cruncherkid, thanks for the reply, your bike looked quite bad in those pics, the engine looks great, might get mine done if i'm going to have to take it apart, i want to keep it all original, do you know where can i get a kickstart shaft from?, silvers are pretty expensive! can the broken shaft be welded back together? where do you get gaskets/oils seals from? might try to get some pics on soon. :)

Hi again Rob, certainly wouldn't contemplate welding the shaft  We've got all the necessary contacts fairly local so you can get your engine as nice as ours 8-)

This would be the recommended gasket set - Noboru are often a better fit than genuine

I see Silvers do a seal kit for £7+vat+shipping now, we bought the genuine seals individually, still wasn't too dear

Let us know when you're meeting up :)
